Operation Ancestor Search

Operation Ancestor Search

Operation Ancestor Search (OAS) is a free genealogy program offered to injured service members in military hospitals, Veterans hospitals and armed forces retirement homes across the country. A program of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, it is operated by local affiliate chapters and our program partners. Operation Ancestor Search provides recreational therapy for wounded warriors and caregivers through family research. We provide genealogy resources and research training for the soldier-users and their family members or caregivers who are by their side.

With an understanding that many wounded service members have a long road to recovery and spend months, if not years, recovering from their injuries at medical centers across the country, OAS provides these brave men and women a respite from the constant reminders of their injuries. OAS allows the SAR to express its gratitude for the sacrifices made by our nation’s injured armed service members. Would you like to see an OAS program at your location?
